Kiev, Passover 1983, we contacted refuseniks Lev and Ina Elbert. Because of hidden microphones in their home Lev wrote, "GIVE US A VOICE."

In Kiev Carmi Elbert was beaten unconscious on the 13th birthday. His classmates said, "You dirty YID, you deserve to die!" We recreated the scene in Israel.

ABOUT US : History: Gates of Brass

LET MY PEOPLE GO!

"Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord: and your children shall return from the enemy's land" Jer.31:16,17

While filming in the USSR for "GATES OF BRASS" in 1984 the K.G.B. confiscated the film. The Lord had whispered to Jay, "You'll get caught, make two copies and hide one with friends." The precious hidden film, which later became the heart of "GATES OF BRASS" miraculously arrived in Berlin, hand delivered to Jay on his 40th birthday, February 22, 1985.

BEHIND THE SCENES "GATES OF BRASS"

Jay arrived in Toronto and Director Burce Allen (r.) met him with plain clothes RCMP who whisked him to the lab to have the film developed under police protection, then deposited in a vault for safe keeping, until the rest of the story could be filmed in Israel and Britain.

"K.G.B. experts" filmed in our office in Jerusalem. Producer Jay Rawlings.
